St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, Corsham:
St Patrick’s School has been supporting parents in raising their children in the Catholic faith, since 1964. The school serves the parishes St Patrick’s and St Anthony of Padua, Melksham and is an integral part of our Catholic mission. The school’s governing body has vacancies for Foundation Governors. This provides the opportunity for new people to come forward and join the school’s governing body, to help lead the school for future generations of Catholic, and other, children.
“To be a governor of a Catholic School is to be involved in the mission of the Church because our Catholic schools are a very important
part of our work for young people in the Church.” (Cardinal Basil Hulme)”
If you would like to be part of the school’s journey and help to shape the lives of our present and future children and so be involved in the mission of the Church, then now is the time to step forward and apply to be a Foundation Governor. Please complete a nomination form https://schools.cliftondiocese.com/form-2 as soon as possible. If you have any queries or would like more details, please contact Bill McEntee, Governance Officer at Clifton Diocese via [email protected] or on 07710094976 – he would be delighted to hear from you!

There is no Parish school in Melksham, but if parents wish to follow a Catholic education for their children our designated Diocesan Schools are St. Patrick's Catholic Primary School in Corsham, and St. Augustine's Catholic College in Trowbridge. Most of the children from our Parish attend these schools. Both schools have their own Admissions system and criteria, and children from our Parish Church are included automatically within their catchment. Application to these schools requires a dual formal application; one to the School and one to Wiltshire Council.

Our Parish schools have a distinct vocation; rooted as they are in the Church’s mission to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ and serve the poor in all that we say and do, they help all those who teach, learn and work in them to use their gifts to their full potential to discover God, each other and themselves. The high demand for places at Catholic schools is testament to the high regard of parents for the distinctive nature of Catholic schools and also the high standards achieved. Supporting the education of our young people is not just a responsibility for the Church and Teachers, but also for our Parish communities.
Please contact the Chair of Governors Mary Ellis, [email protected], if you are interested or simply want more information on how you could help contribute to school life at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School. Thank you.
