ABOUT US
THE PARISH
St. Anthony’s church was opened in 1939, built in part of the garden of a property then known as “The Southernlands”, The Avenue, Melksham. Part of the house is now the presbytery, the other part is a private house; and the road has become known as “West End”.
A small parish hall was added to the back of the church in 1998.
Melksham is situated in West Wiltshire, about 7 miles from the county’s administrative centre, Trowbridge.
St. Anthony’s parish is a fairly small one, consisting of about 150 parishioners from the town and surrounding villages.
Our parish is in the Diocese of Clifton, and in the Deanery of Trowbridge.
We are also members of the Melksham Family of Churches, and have close relationships with other Christian Churches in Melksham.
We are a Fairtrade parish, and currently hold a Fairtrade sale on the 1st Sunday of the month after Mass.
We support Fr. Danny O’Sullivan, a diocesan priest working in Peru, whose sister lives in the parish.
We have no parish school as such, but most of our primary age children attend St. Patrick's Catholic Primary School in Corsham; and most of our secondary age young people attend St. Augustine's Catholic College in Trowbridge – both excellent schools.
